Dr Kauser Abdulla Malik

Dr Kauser Abdulla Malik is an educationist/academician of repute - currently Professor of Biotechnology at Forman Christian [FC] College Lahore. He is member of some outstanding intellectual bodies - Planning Commission of Pakistan, National Commission on Biotechnology, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, National Institute for Biotechnology [also its Founding Director] and Genetic Engineering and Nuclear Institute for Agriculture & Biology.
Besides other national and international distinctions, Government of Pakistan has bestowed him with Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for his meritorious contribution in research and education.
Dr Malik has a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Aston, UK. He joined the LEAD Board in June 2010.

Dr Farah Adeeb


Dr Farah Adeeb is an expatriate from Lahore. She studied her PhD at the University of Auckland before taking on a position with the Environment Protection Authority in South Australia. She is now a senior air quality manager with the equivalent organisation in Western Australia. She is also the branch president for Clean Air Society for Australia and New Zealand.

Farah is also a freelance writer and these poems are therefore reflective of the thoughts and feelings of many within the immigrant population within Australia.

Saiyma Haroon



Saiyma Haroon is a Norwegian born Pakistani brought up in Lahore, Pakistan. Her parents moved back to Lahore when she was around 6 years old and then moved back to Norway right after she completed her GCSE from Lahore Grammar school.  She cherished the time she spent in her hometown Pakistan and that was the most memorable time of her life. She completed her IB from Oslo International School and then got married and settled in Oslo. Since then she has been visiting Lahore for holidays.
Haroon is a qualified skin and beauty therapist, and holds a diploma in Business and administration. She is currently working as a financial advisor in a Scandinavian bank in Norway. She had got a few modelling offers during her stay in Lahore a few years back and face modelled for a magazine called “guysngalz” but never pursued it as a career as she was a busy mom! She is a mother of two precious boys: Saif Haroon and Sahil Haroon.
Saiyma Haroon loves to learn new things, meet new people and craves for intellectual growth and opportunities. She has done a lot of volunteer work for an organization in Norway called IHSG along with being a full time banker, mother and wife. She is a passionate person who loves to do everything with passion, strength & ambition and never gives up. Her other interests are yoga, photography, dancing, poetry and music.
Saiyma Haroon, went on to represent Pakistan in the Mrs. Universe 2012 pageant in August 2012 and won “Best Personality Award,” for Pakistan. This was a tremendous win for Pakistan especially for the married women of Pakistan in beauty pageants. Asarulislam Syed

Amir of Jannat Pakistan Party, Asarulislam Syed, M.D, Neurologist and Psychiatrist, lives in California, USA. Besides enjoying a deep interest in cognitive sciences and human behavior, he has held a lifelong interest in The Quran, and has devoted himself, pondering over The Final Message. A non-conformist Muslim , he has no religious sectarian affiliation or denomination. He delivers the rational message of The Quran from Shalimar Radio, Los Angeles, every Saturday at noon on Channel 900 AM.

Born and raised in Lahore, his family comes from Tibba Syedan, Sialkot. His parents, Dr. Zubaida Gilani and Brigadier Habibus Saqlain, were both physicians from King Edward Medical College Lahore. His grandfather, Hafiz Syed Mohammed Isaac, a pupil of the renowned Syed Mir Hasan, Professor of Arabic at Scotch Mission School & Murray College, Sialkot, imparted to him, his first complete discourse (Dars) on translation and concepts of The Quran.

While a medical student in Lahore in the 70’s, Asarulislam formally studied The Quran at the Tolu-e-Islam Quranic Education Center in Lahore, Pakistan. He was a dedicated pupil of Pakistan’s renowned Quranic scholar and QuaideAzam’s Political Advisor, Baba Ghulam Ahmed Parvez . Working as a physician in Saudi Arabia for seven years allowed him the opportunity to learn the Arabic language and metaphor, and develop a deeper understanding of the cultural and social settings of the lands which gave The Quran.

His wife Nayla Asar Syed, M.D., a Child Psychiatrist, is a graduate from Fatima Jinnah Medical College and Kansas University Medical Center. Married for 33 years, they live on a farm in Southern California. They have four children.
Asarulislam is an Abdalian, a Kemcolian, and a Jayhawk.

Dr Asad Ashraf

Dr Asad Ashraf, member Punjab Assembly son of Mr Hasan Ashraf was born on June 21, 1963 in Lahore. He obtained the degree of MBBS in 1986 from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore and completed his Post-Graduate Diploma in Cardiology in 1994 from NICVD, University of Karachi; and served as consultant cardiologist, Services Hospital Lahore. He has participated in various conferences during 1993 and 1994. He functioned as unelected Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab during 1997-99. A physician and a cardiologist, who remained a Member of Punjab Assembly during 2002-07 (functioned as Deputy Parliamentary Leader) and has returned to Punjab Assembly for the second consecutive term in general elections 2008. He has visited UAE, UK, Qatar and Tanzania.

Dr Saeed Elahi

He has travelled to UK, USA, KSA, UAE, India and Nepal.

Prof. Muhammad Umar

Prof. Muhammad Umar graduated from King Edward Medical College Lahore in 1968. He completed his orthopaedic training at Albert Einstein College of medicine in New York. He received fellowship training in joint replacement surgery at Hospital for special surgery, University of Cornell, New York. He was appointed consultant at University of Rochester affiliated hospital in 1975. He established a four-man orthopaedic group practice as a senior partner. As a member of the clinical faculty at the University of Rochester, he took active part in undergraduate education and postgraduate orthopaedic training. 
In 1990 he came back to Pakistan and joined Aga Khan University Hospital (Karachi) as a full time academic faculty member. Here he pioneered the development of arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement work. He is the founding faculty member of orthopaedic residency training program at the Aga Khan University and its director from 1995-2000. he is also a founding member of Pakistan Society for surgery of the hand and has served as its general secretary and president from 1995 – 1998. 
 He also had the honor to serve as secretary general and president of Pakistan Orthopaedic Association from 1996 – 1999. Prof. Muhammad Umar M.D. is the founder and surgeon-in-chief of Institute of Orthopaedics and Surgery and head of orthopaedic service of South City Hospital. He is recognized for his expertise in total joint replacement and revision surgery.

Dr. Saadia Virk

Dr. Saadia Virk, CEO at South City Hospital Karachi is a graduate of Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore. After completing her postgraduate training at the Aga Khan University she went for further training to UK and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. In the UK she worked in institutions of excellence and obtained special training in general Gynaecology, Urogynaecolgoy, Oncology, Assisted Reproduction and high risk Obstetrics.
On return to Pakistan, with her leadership skills, she established departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Mid East Hospital and a centre of Assisted Reproduction at Australian Concept Infertility Centre in Karachi.
In 2008 she took the lead in establishing and inaugurating South City Hospital which is a state-of-the-art facility for surgical specialties. At present she is the Chief Executive Officer and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of this Hospital.
Clinical work is her second area of excellence. Her expertise lies in management of high risk pregnancies, infertility, assisted reproduction, oncology and laparoscopic surgery including LAVH, ovarian cystectomies, myomectomies, ectopics and endometriosis. She is also well versed with conventional general gynaecology. In recognition of her clinical work and leadership skills she has recently been awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Under Dr. Saadia Virk’s supervision, South City Hospital is now an established and recognized centre for laparoscopic surgeries in gynaecology and general surgery.
